Therapy

Trauma & Abuse Therapy

Trauma & Abuse Therapy is offered free of charge by our experienced and qualified therapists. Trauma therapy is a flexible method adapted to individual need.

It consists of thorough, effective techniques to bring about lasting change without the need of recalling traumatic experiences. We explore triggers and negative beliefs. Victims of traumatic experiences may have irrational fears or flashbacks. We build coping strategies to enable the client to deal with current situations that previously overwhelmed them. Clients establish techniques they can practice when a situation starts to feel uncomfortable, thus allowing them to live more independently and within expected societal parameters.

Victims of abuse often learn coping strategies that are necessary to keep themselves safe and/or able to deal with their abuser. The strategies adopted whilst in an abusive relationship may not be transferable to living a life free from the abuse.

The client may have taken drugs or self-harmed, they may have had to reprimand the children in line with the abusers orders. Trauma therapy enables clients to start to overcome their traumatic experiences and start to live more comfortably both in themselves and in their community
